Not sure if this is the right subforum, but, can anyone with more experience than I have lend me their opinion on whether this Socom Elite S/E looks genuine? Not holding anyone liable for anything if I choose to buy and it's not, I'm just not sure what to look for via engravings, screws, handles, etc. I'm told it's new in box, price is around $300. Photos attached. 'Thanks.

I have no overt reason to doubt, but I got taken once on ebay on a Benchmade fixed blade. Seller maintains this is new in box never used. May be more than I want to spend, but first would like advice on authenticity. To me it looks good, not seeing raisesd lettering nor gaps. Obviously need to see in person before buying, but thought pictures might be informative. This is NOT on ebay, this is a private seller.

Everything looks right to me, but then again fakes these days are very, very good. Heck, I've seen a clone Shiro (not a fake, because no branding or marking), that replicates their finishes exactly.

Are you able to at least confirm that the seller has the knife in question? And if so do they have a history of positive transactions?

For me, a large history of transactions selling Benchmades, Spydercos, or similar for "just better than they should be" prices is often a warning.

I'm not a Microtech expert, but it looks correct to me. The fact that it's pictured on top of a brochure included in Microtech boxes is a good sign. Counterfeiters don't replicate those, so the seller has at least owned a Microtech.

One piece of advice I can offer is to search for photos of as many 2018 SOCOMs as you can find. The SOCOM has changed a lot through various generations, so seeing exemplars from the same build year will help you to verify correct hardware, configuration, construction, etc.

Also, if those are the only pictures of the knife that the seller has, ask for more. You need more angles, close-ups, and overall shots than those two to determine authenticity.
