Microtech, CMTX5, manual, asking for feedback ...

I recently discovered a new/unused/never screwed with, pair of Microtech's, CMT-X5, MANUAL OPENING. I have basically scoured the net trying to get a feel for the value of these bad boys, to little avail. I found that the model was discontinued a few years ago, because of a bad sear pin in the Auto version, and they seem to be gaining in value.

I think the Anthony Marfione and Butch Vallotton design of the CMTX5 is profound, "totally sick" as youngstersters would say. That's the reason I bought the knives! They never made it into the rotation, and I have since become disabled. My hands will not tolerate sharping knives, I was never really good anyway, even on a good day. I am obviously reluctant to put a $500.00 Microtech on a stone, same with Al Mar knives. I am now officially a Benchmade fan, I love "Life Sharp"!

Any feedback/historical 411/value guesstimate/demand, would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to get hosed.

Peace,

JD

In order to give you a better estimate on the value of the knives you have, need more details. Carbon fiber or Micarta scales? Satin, stonewashed, black, plain or combo edge blade? Do they come with box, sheath, papers? Microtech Collectors generally prefer uncoated / plain edge blades, carbon fiber over micarta, and autos over manuals. To help with a valuation, I recently purchased a CMTX-5 auto (with a good sear), carbon fiber, satin, plain edge, NIB with sheath and papers for $450. Considering the ones you are asking about are manuals and not knowing the other factors, I put their value in the $300 - $350 range. They might bring a little more on Ebay.
