I've always wanted to collect microtech knives. I love the way they do their otf knives. I think they're very pretty. But I've never even bought one microtech knife. Because I know it won't last forever. And even if I offer to pay them to fix it. They'll tell me to suck it and buy benchmades from now on. Does anyone have any experience with microtechs customer service? I'd really like to get a few knives from them.

Despite the rumors of denying warranty claims and not returning knives to customers I have had nothing but good luck with their customer service. They arent a huge company. And as such things can change often and sometimes the people who answer the phone dont have all the right answers but are always helpful. Here is the thing with microtech. They simply expect you to be honest and not modify their products. And if you are not legally qualified to own one of their automatics and need it serviced, DO NOT SEND IT IN YOURSELF.

Sorry for the exclamations but nearly 90% of all whining that is done about knives never being returned to their owners are because people refuse to learn the proper way of getting microtech warranty work. If its an auto use the dealer or any respected microtech dealer as your middle man. Get in touch with them and arrange for them to get the product to microtech. Anyone who doesnt follow this procedure is asking for trouble and really only have themselves to blame for having their knife confiscated. Now, im not saying MT and Mr. Marfione havent pulled some shady moves. They certainly have. But in recent years they really have tried to turn that reputation around. And just as Tony and crew have been trying to own their mistakes and stop making new ones the customers need to do the same.

I sure hope your right. And I'm noticing a lot of these negative reviews are dated back to 2011 and 2012. I might give them a try

what if you are in a state that allows switchblades?? can you send it in yourself then??

Deal with a good vendor and they will help you. I recommend the hollow grind. He is a site sponsor and will back any microtech, even help you with them if needed.

If you want to buy a MT (auto specifically) I would suggest going to www.thehollowgrind.com. Dave is a paying member here and a great guy to do business with. I bought several MTs last year and his shipping was fast. Also, I believe he is now a certified MT repair center, so if you have a problem with your knife he can take care of it (within reason). If the knife does need to be shipped to the factory for repair, you need to go through the dealer. You will probably have to pay shipping back and forth though. If you live in a state where autos are legal, I have heard MT will ship it back to you. If you have the money, get one. I love mine, even though they mostly sit in my gun safe as I can't carry them outside of my own property!

From other people's responses, it looks like Microtech finally has gotten their s**t together. There was a time when everything negative you heard about them WEREN'T rumors.

Well guys I'm glad that microtech is trying to do better. Maybe it's time for me to give them a chance.
