I Just got a Green Tactical Microtech Hawk from a Seller in Japan. It's in Mint condition, Except there's no spring to make it fire. I have no clue how to get one and fix it. 650$ I spent. Please help me find away to fix it. I don't know what makes it fire and what I'm missing

Talk to Microtech. Tbh, around here they have a terrible reputation for their warranty policy but you will probably find that they will offer to fix it for you, possibly for a fee.

I'd suggest contacting Microtech. They have spare parts and the right tools, if you aren't good with auto disassembly they can be tricky to deal with, and something so expensive needs somebody who knows what they are doing.

Ok great thanks. I just don't think they will. I got the Knife from a Seller in Japan and he said it was taken out because of the Laws in Japan and eBay rules overseas. I just would like to know if it indeed is a Coil Spring or regular Spring or something else. It's a real shame though

Exactly. I'm sure it's a Coil Spring or some sort but I just don't know. I've got tons of experience taken apart Microtech OTF but never a Side Opening Microtech Auto.

If that was not disclosed in the listing send it back.

Since it’s a Microtech product, they most likely will fix it for you, but you will probably be charged for parts and labor since it is no longer covered under warranty.

Before he listed it on eBay he had it listed on a Japanese site Buyeee I think it was? Anyway it did say no Spring. I just wasn't sure what it meant. But no he never mentioned it in eBay. His did respond back and say Auto's are Illegal in Japan and illegal to ship in eBay. The Knife is my Grail and the Vietnam Green makes it look breathtaking. It's so rare. I just want to know it is missing a Spring? Is it a Coil Spring idk? I just hope it's a simple fix. I ordered all 3 sizes of Coil Springs so we'll see. Just nervous Cuz I've never taken a Hawk apart. But got tons of experience taken apart MT OTF's though. We'll see I guess

Good luck.

It's a rare Microtect knife and just replacing the spring, and having Microtect get it in top condition is worth any charge they will charge.
Anytime i call Microtect i get someone to talk with, and if have to i leave a message they return the call.
So i sure would give them a call and get a return started.

If ypu are going to keep it I'd let microtech work on it.

Yes absolutely, They won't touch it because I'm not the original owner and somebody voided warranty by taking apart Knife and taken this Spring out.

Oh yeah, I paid 650$ for this and it's 13 years old. You can still feel the brand new feeling from the Coating. It's absolutely Mint. It's a sad story though hopefully I can get it fixed

Your best bet might be Josh at PVKT in Las Vegas. He has coil springs, had one for a LUDT for me in '98!

It's be very surprised if he didn't have one for your hawk. Tell him the chef from Baltimore sent you :D

Oh great thanks for the heads up I've dealt with Josh a ton. A great NewEnglander he is lol.

It’s probably just a coil spring opener. Just call MT. If they won’t help, take it apart. Knifekits.com has coil springs. Measure the size of the recess for the spring, measure the hole size for the spring ends and then order a spring to fit. It should really be that easy. If it’s a leaf style spring, maybe a little harder, but can be made and treated to have the right springiness.

This thread is already in automatic forum section. Same advice was given.
