Thought I would ask what others think about this-is it usual in the knife business?

I looked at Microtech's web site and found a knife (mtx-2) that suits my needs. I shopped around for a few hours on line trying to find one. Several dealers told me that they had it back ordered but had no idea when Microtech would be filling the order. I called several of Microtech's authorized dealers from their web site thinking they should know more. Same story. I call Microtech finally and they tell me the knife is no longer in production and might be made in the future but only as a custom made....

So I ask why is it on your web site as a current product? Why don't your dealers know this? What happens if I order one from a dealer and 1 year from now get notice it is in at twice the price I was quoted?

No real answers...Wonder how a company stays in business with such poor management...

Guess I will continue my search for a knife/company that meets my needs...

www.pvk.com has 10 micarta D/A MTX2 in stock...

Benchmade also seems to keep discontinued models on their site. I will find one that I really like and then see its no longer made. Quite frustrating.

I've recently had dealings with Microtechs customerservice/sales. They told me that they would soon be changing the web site again. They also said they knew nothing about the 440HC that is advertised on their web site for use in the LUDT. I was also told that they will be using D2 steel exclusivly in their 2007 models. You can't really go by what Microtech says. You just have to wait and see what comes out. I'm still waiting on a pocketclip that I ordered several months ago. 3 wrong pocket clips later and I'm still waiting. I'm pretty sure that I'm done buying MT products.
