Microtech L.C.C. vs. Benchmade 690

el cid:

I have both and they are totally different knives. It's very difficult to compare them.

The LCC is a rugged, fairly heavy tactical-type knife. I might also mention, a beautifully made piece that is worth alot more than it is priced at.

The 690 is a very nicely-made medium-sized knife that I think is more suited to EDC.

You can't go wrong with either.

I purchased my LCC as an every day carry gentlemen's knife...Turns out...too big and bulky! It is a great knife...but I opted to get, in ADDITION, a 690.

The BM is nice...sharp, pretty, good size, and still strong.

BUT: For tactical/dressy combo...go with the LCC.

I only own the LCC but I would recommend it very highly. It is my favorite knife right now. If I were you I would get the LCC.

The 690 is a more faithful copy of the custom it is designed after. The Microtech LCC is larger and much heavier than the custom LCC. I hate to say it, but I prefer the 690. Both are great knives.

CPR, that's what I thought as well. The 690 is very close to Elishewitz's custom version, however, isn't the Microtech L.C.C. larger than Lightfoot's custom?

I too would draw attention to the LCC's size and weight. The LCC's bulk alone disqualifies it for me for EDC. I am also unimpressed with Microtech's liner locks. Benchmade's are better, in my opinion, but at this point I don't buy liner locks anymore.

I carry an LCC daily. Yes, it is a bit hefty, but carries very comfortably and the clip is situated to where the knife rides nice and low in the pocket. Quality is superb, and it feels nicely substantial in the hand.

I have both and would take (and do take) the LCC every time.

It's just a great knife, feels great in the hand, in the pocket and fun to cut with.

You can't go wrong with an LCC IMHO.
