A Heads Up!

Just got word from Microtech that the LCC is near the end of it's production run. Dealers and Distributors are urged to place orders now which will determine the final numbers that Microtech builds. This includes manual and D/A versions.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
ohh well...all good things must come to an end.
I have my Ti bolsert M/A...now I gotta find a D/A before they're gone...

UpDate :)

According to Microtech they are needing to switch over tooling so this may not be the end but it may be the end for a while until they build up a back log to warrant setting up tooling again.

Holy cow! Those guys are nuts! I suppose I'll just have to buy the custom version... (something I was planning to do anyway).

Man am I glad I decided to get that knife for my birthday, which was just this past Saturday! I hope they can start up production again sometime because I might end up wanting two or three more.

Holy Smokes! Like Luke Skywalker said when he learned Darth vader was his father, "No, that's not true, that's impossible! Noooooooooooooooo!" I need to get me a few more quick!

I'm glad I got my two d/a's(3rd Gen Carbon Fiber and the new tactical version). They are great knives.

That is really amazing. The LCC has seemed to be a real solid seller for MT. We "mortals" don't have the sales figures, but from everything I've heard here, it seems to have overwhelming popularity and respect among us "knife-knuts". How do they do this?

Hopefully, they'll bring it back by popular demand.

Uh huh, figures :) WHen I was deciding what to get, everyone told me to go with the SE because the LCC would be around for a long time :D

This is quite a shock! Why on Earth would they wanna ditch the best and most popular (here anyway) folder they've ever made?!
The MT LCC is as close to custom quality that I've ever seen on any production folder.

Sure glad I got a M/A.

What knifenerd said.

What's the problem? Can't stand too much success? From my reading on the forums, the LCC may be considered the ultimate in linerlocks in the collector future, along with the BM 710.

Sounds for sure to me that they're fixing something that ain't close to broke yet.

It is curious to me that the LCC was one of the worst selling Microtech knives in our experience. Curious because it is high value knife with great design and fit and finish. It has nearly perfect balance. I thought it would be an overwhelming winner commercially. I never understood why it didn't sell like the SOCOM's and other earlier models. It's easy to see why they are discontinuing it, though. Take care.

MT doesn't seem to be able to run parallel lines so when a new knife is proposed you can expect the previous models to go out of producition. Unless there is some overriding reason you can also expect to see them come back into production when the demand builds back up and the new New thing has had it's run. (Gee, weren't LUDTs a thing of the past and then they came back?)If ya like the knife yell it loud and clear. Tell them that you want one NOW! and put your money on the table or tell them you ain't got the money now, but want one for your 40th birthday (or some such).

I agree, on a Production Folder, the LCC is excellent. The only other knife that ever came close to truly being "Custom Quality" is the 1998 Emerson Commanders. I have both and they are excellent knives. They exceed a whole lot of Custom Knives out there in my opinion.

Both were great deals too.

The LCC was my least favorite of the MT knives. I didnt care much for the design much but mostly the knife was overly large and was near impossible for me to open with one hand. Fit and finish are excellent on all MT products.

Maybe it's me.. but this doesn't sound like the end guys. Re-read Mike's posts. They didn't say "it's gone, no more LCC's... discontinued"...

* They are going to make another pile of LCC's.
* They get that pile into the sales channels....takes a while to sell those to the public.
* Meanwhile they've switched to producing another knife on that production line.
* They'll go back and make more LCC's if demand is high enough.
* I don't think that sounds like a bad manufacturing plan myself, Tony maximizing the tooling he has... I mean, I like the LCC better than anything else MT makes, but obviously demand is nearly met. I don't want 4 LCC's really. 1 or 2 is fine.

Maybe you guys who have followed MT for a while know different... have they gone through this cycle before and not returned to a popular model?
