I have several of these in the auto version. They are good users and cut well. The coatings will not hold up well and will begin to rub off after use. I have a tan camo auto and the finish on the handle has rubbed off after considerable use.
Hope this helps.

I collect auto's and can carry one legally so I don't own a manual one. The auto version is one of my favorite EDC's. I do not care for coated blades on any knife as no one has made a finish that won't mar with use. I prefer the satin finish on a user. The MT stonewash is also a good user finish.
I believe most think of an auto knife when you talk about Microtech so they don't pay enough attention to the manual versions. They are well made knives. Give one a try, I doubt that you will be disapointed.
i got my wife a mini SOCOM elite manual, the one w/the frame lock, its an excellent knife, well made, great lock up, doesnt get any better imho, she likes it also.
I heard that the Mini-SOCOM Elites are much smaller than they appear to be on pictures. Is that true?
My hands are a little larger than average - could you still recommend this knife to me?
I'm interested in one of the m/a desert camo models.
Quiet storm, the original Mini was rather small, like a small sebbie. But the newer frame lock is lock larger pretty close to the large sebbie. Unfortunately I don't have any comparison pics. but Dexter Ewing is a big SOCOM fan and if you contact him I am sure he has pics.
the socom elite mini is a pretty good sized knife, larger than the old mini socoms, i dont think they ever made any other socom elite mini's, all socom IIRC, the elite makes it, the regular size socom elite is a good one too, micro bar lock, etc.
