I've ordered a new SOG Vision folding tanto. Now, as far as small lighter weight carry folders which do you prefer-----
The Benchmade Mini Stryker Tanto or the Microtech Mini SOCOM folding tanto? I want this for a general everyday use knife.

Thankyou for your responses!

Well unfortunately I don't have either. I do have a BM 910 Stryker and I feel it is very well built. I think from what I have seen on the forums you will definitely be persuaded to get the MT though and with good reason.
I would have to go that way myself. I made the mistake of taking a BM for part of a trade I had made on a firearm. I took off $120.00 for the Stryker for the trade, I would have taken the MT Mini Socom, but he wanted $160.00 for this knife. I don't think you would have a problem finding the same MT for about $105.00 NIB.
After having several BM's and after inspecting several MT's, I would have to say go with the MT in this comparison. There QC seems to be excellent and both being liner locking blades I think your getting a little bit more for the MT if your buying new. You could probally find the Stryker for a real good price here on the forums probally quite a bit less than the MT that is if you don't mind one being slightly used. I love my BM's except when I pay full price.

As an owner and user of both, take the MT. While the mini-Stryker is a great little knife, it is not in the same league as the MT. The MT is lighter and the blade performance is way ahead of the BM. The edge is ground thinner and the bevels much more acute. Sharpens very easily to a razor edge. Have carried and used the Stryker for 2 years now and it still finds it's way into my pocket. The BM gets the nod if you like to tinker. Here is a picture of my mini-Stryker. Natural micarta, file worked blue/purple anodized liners and stainless spacers. I stronly prefer this version to my MT. But if I had to choose between stock models, I would pick the MT.

The mini Socom is lighter, and is very flat and thin.

It's overall build/blade quality is better than the BM, IMHO. I almost forget I'm carrying it clipped on my pocket! It's real comfortable.

Go for the Microtech. I had a 910BT and a full size SOCOM, and of the two, guess which one I sold? I assume the M-SOCOM and the 905BT will be a similar comparison (Microtech is better). I've handled both, and while the BM is cute, the MT is better.

I have both and I agree that the MT is better "quality", but in view of the clip position (MT sticks out quite a bit) I prefer the BM (also, the BM handle fits my hand very well). If you choose BM, inspect the knife closely because the quality control of BM is not always perfect (according to the posts I read).
The best knife is the one you have with you when you need it

"Wow, the majority seem to prefer the Microtech mini SOCOM Tanto" Now I must decide between the auto and the manual opener!"
