Martin,
Your calculation would be correct if you would specify what price you are considering as basic for this calculation. Hope you aren't buying knives in retail
In my knowledge price for foreign wholesalers is something about 50% of Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP).
OK, now let's calculate together:
Knife with MSRP 200$ really costs you only 100$ in USA;
Now add 15% transport and insurance - price will be 115$;
Now add 11% duty - price will be 128$ (I'm rounding up cents);
Now add VAT 20% - price will be 154$ and this is your real cost!
You can earn 46$ (23% of MSRP and 30% of your costs) remaining within MSRP. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Now let's search your offer at http://www.knifeshop.com You said you have problems with Microtech knives availability - it's pity. But where are Benchmade, Spyderco, Columbia River Knife & Tool, SOG, Katz, etc., etc. knives? Oh, sorry, I have found CRKT Sealtac II knife in your site, it's only two years out of production, really new knife, don't you think?
But where are CRKT new knives? Please compare your offer with some American Internet knife stores...
Maybe you are going to sell knives... without knives?
