Microtech Recent Customer Service?

I am in the market for a new OTF, and was between the Benchmade Shootout and the Microtech Ultratech,

I was originally set on the Microtech Ultratech, but I have been reading a TON of bad experiences with Microtech’s customer service. Most posts were a few years old, but there were a handful of recent posts.

I don’t want to get a knife that will be a pain to have serviced, especially with a complex OTF…

Has anyone had recent experience with Microtech’s customer service?

UPDATE: I went to my local AD today and handled about ten different Microtechs, a few Cobratechs, and a couple benchmades. The Microtechs felt really solid, but they were super hard to retract. They didn’t have the color/blade style I wanted anyway, but I asked if they could order it. The guy said they could try, but being a smaller dealer, Microtech isn’t responsive at all; when they place an order, they aren’t told what’s in stock or not…a box just shows up and what they get is what they get. I ended up walking out with the Shootout…less hoops to jump through, and it felt really smooth.

I've heard it has gotten better, but I have never needed to use it short of an email exchange. I nearly sent in an Ultratech, but after some coaching and a few emails with CS, I had it figured out that I had over oiled the knife. I never got the vibe that I was was being a pain or that they didn't want to help. They even gave me an RMA number should I feel that I needed to send it in.

As far as the Shootout vs Ultratech, what are you going to use the knife for? I find the UT to be a bit more premium with the aluminum handle and slim design...but it sorta sucks as a work knife when I am not in the office. The Shootout has a very Glock feel to it. Plasticy and without much soul, but it seems to work. It fires easier and the pricepoint with the Cruwear has made it my go-to edc for when I am actually going to be using my knife. I wish they had spent more time on the edge like my Adamas knives, but that is a different story.

I've got 3 UTs and one Shootout. I like that all my UTs are different, but if BM releases an upgraded version of the Shootout, I'll all over it. It has really grown on me.
 
Actually for a while now Microtech has had amazing customer service. I've had to use it 2 times in the last 3 years for minor things. Not only did they take care of everything quickly but communicated the entire the entire time.

Microtech makes them in batches, dealers get what they get, pretty quickly after they sell them all. The alure of Microtech is if you see aodel you like you have to buy otherwise it could be years before you see them again.

That said seems you chose the shootout, should take care of your needs & hope you enjoy it.
 
Current MT CS was fantastic for me. Very easy, fast, high quality. No complaints.
