Would have to agree that the LUDT is one of the best EDC knives I've ever carried and continue to do so. Love the blade shape, its light weight, its affordable, easily replaced, great steels, great colors, nice clip.
Bought my first in 2000 during the Vero Beach days. I would have to count but I would guess I have 30 or so. Some are side openers, several otf’s and several Socom MAs and autos. I’ve simply never had a bad one. I love the Socom’s and In my opinion are the best folders I’ve ever owned though I do enjoy my Amphbians and LCCs as well. I find otf’s great for the cool factor, I keep the blades whiped clean and the always fire just fine. LUDT as a auto would probably be the best for a new user and a great edc. That said, nothing bad to say about MT, pricey yes, but certainly not over priced
As mentioned above, already, raw convenience of immediate auto closing while staying focused and likely only one hand free with task at hand.
Any other design takes significant attention and time while things are trying to get away, unravel, come to pieces, whatever. Zero hand shift required from open to cut to close.
A huge advantage at times for those who work with knives, like, at work, besides cardboard and envelopes.
