I’m posting this for my best friend who feels jerked around. He sent back what was basically a cleaning job on a Ultratech. It wasn’t opening well and spraying with oil and blowing out wasn’t helping much. Anyway they received it Dec 6 and told him 4-6 weeks. This is post hurricane so that was supposed to take it in an account. It hit 90 days just the other day. Were like 45 min down the road so it’s not in the mail ;) I guess all he can do is wait, but I wanted to see if this is how things go or did they lose a lot of people who had to move after the hurricane?

Sounds about par for the course. Hurricane or not. I am just right down the road as well.

I would have taken it apart and cleaned it up myself. There's a few videos online, but it's a really simple build.

Wouldn't that just give them an excuse to not ever warranty it again? I've never heard good things about MT customer service even from their dealers..

Microtech themselves can't figure out what their warranty policy is.

Here's an official Microtech video on maintenance. It would be highly suspect to say that disassembly voids the warranty if they show you how to do it.

The warranty card that came with my Hera Mini II says that "Disassembly and sharpening will not automatically void the warranty."

But when I emailed customer service, they said that opening the knife voids the warranty. When I sent in a photo of the warranty card and asked the rep why it explicitly said that it did not, all I heard was crickets back in response.
