Microtech Socom Delta (Production)

How many zombie tech deltas were made any idea?

I have never seen that Microtech releases any sort of information like that. They don't really interact much with the community, rather they just make tons of knives in various production runs with all kinds of different steels. Your guess is about as good as anyone else's.

Great googly moogly - that zombie tech is fierce!

I had a Socom Elite a while back. Me and a friend kept swapping it back and forth to each other for gun show money..... For $100!!!! Damn I wish I had bought it back from him that last time. He sold it at a gun show when I couldn't come up with the cash and it was never seen again! It was a really rare edition too. (Plain edge, clip point, anopeen blade finish) Damn damn damn!

That zombie tech just might scratch the itch.

I've got a Delta in the mail coming my way now. Couldn't find the blade I wanted in G10 so I settled for the alum scales. All the reviews I've seen are very positive. I thought I read that the alum scales were the new models with G10 being replaced, but it looks like the opposite is true. Seriously considering a SOCOM Elite too before they're all gone...both the Delta and Elite appear to be pretty awesome. Could be mistaken but I think the most recent runs use D2 powder steel versus ELMAX. Interested to find out what my Delta ends up coming with. My new Combat Troodon has ELMAX, but not sure if D2 would be considered for the OTFs.

If I remember correctly, GPKnives had an Aluminum handled run done for them. I'm not sure if the Aluminum handles then went to other dealers as well. What i have noticed is that what is selling now is the left overs from the last run that was made. Oenreason why we haven't seem much of the CPM-D2, CPM-S30V, or ATS-34 around lately. I should have bought an S30V drop point but they flew off the shelves. As for D2, it doea get used for OT f knives, Microtech and Benchmade both have used it successfuly.

I have gp edition delta, aluminum handle with CPM D2 tanto blade. No complaints, awesome knife. I think I enjoy the socom elite a little more, and I can't really explain why.

MT's production really bugs me. I was really gunning for a drop point in S30V but as usual, my spending money and their production schedule just doesn't mesh and my patience wears thin fast. Recently just snagged a ATS34 tanto aluminum

At the very least, I it'll be a chance for me to experiment with a blade shape that I've really never cared for and a chance to expand my limited steel usage. If I don't like it, I have several close friends that really seem to admire the knife that I could sell/trade for at a minimal loss

The more I think about it... why would GP want a run of aluminum if G10 is standard? I'm sure I'm missing something, but would have thought G10 would be the preferred option. Maybe due to cost and thus being able to offer the model at a lower price point? Regardless, looking forward to getting mine!

It's called exclusivity. Since they already change blade steel often the only thing that can be changed and made unique is the handle material.
