Does this knife exist? I've only seen these in automatics which, sadly, will land me in jail here in CT. The minis seem to be easy to find in manual but not the full-size. Any help?
Thanks.

No it does not exist that I could find.

"Mini Socomm" and "Elite" go together and refer to the same knife. It is not very "mini" if you check the specs.

Here is a good larger manual knife from Microtech.

I see, so the full sized Socom is automatic only?
The Amphibian has a nice looking blade but I'm not a big fan of the curved handle. Hmmm...
If a mini is my only choice, can anyone who has used one comment on its quality (blade play, lock, steel, etc)?

Edit: I see you've included the D/A Socom. Is there a way to remove the spring from it to make it legal where I live?

The mini socomm elite is a very well made knife carried by LEO and EMT personnel.

There is, or at least was, a manual full-size SOCOM Elite. It had the microbar lock and a very heavy clip point blade. I had one, and gave it up because it screamed "use me to kill people." Not that that's a bad thing, you understand.

Have you thought about looking on eBay. One just sold, but you see Elites and the older full size SOCOMs from time to time. The mini-Elite is also very nice, but I personally dislike tip up carry.

It most certainly does exist. I have an old model made in 2000 that is one of my favorite EDCs. It's big, beefy and has taken a lot of moderate to hard use and just keep on ticking. That model has a 154CM blade, but I also have an all black Tactical model with the Talon logo on the S90V blade. Both are definitely M/A Socom Elites (and no, I won't sell you my spare).

Okay, so it does exist. :)
I want one.
I see that the D/As have a thumbstud and that confuses me...
Can it be construed solely as a manual or would any police officer who isn't blind know immediately that its a switchblade?

Yeah baby! That's what my back up model looks like. My EDC one is actually an older grind with a pretty good sized swedge which some people have referred to as a Brend stye grind, although I don't think Walter Brend had anything to do with it.

Schweeet!

Don't forget the Socom Elite framelocks! I recommend them. :)
They're sort of a mini. Approx 3 3/8ths" blade. Just SLIGHTLY bigger than the Regular Mini Socom.

The last time I checked Microtech's website, it showed the full-size SOCOM Elite as available in both automatic and manual versions. I, too, would love to have a full-size SOCOM Elite M/A, the Mini version is so small, it looks like a keychain knife to me. I asked a well-known MT dealer about the availablility of the full-size manual, they were supposed to have been released earlier this year. Now that you've reminded me about this, I will check around again.

I picked up a beautiful, all-but-mint SOCOM Elite M/A clippoint years ago, just before I got my first Sebenza. At that point, I put it away. The SOCOM Elite has been waiting all this time, quietly hiding from the light of day ... :)

It's good to hear they will still be making them. Great knife.

i have 2 manual elites, 1 with the anapeen finish which is my fav MT finish, even if they dont still make them there are plenty of old ones around, try microholics.org for a 2nd hand one.

Something like that? :) (between Halo III Tactical otf and older Socom manual)

it is indeed a collaboration between Tony Marfione and Walter Brend

I am one happy freakin camper as I just rec. a MA SOCOM on a trade for my CMTX5. This particular knife is dated 10/98 and is dead mint and astoundidly sharp! Between this and my amphibian and a couple of a EKI's I carry I am definetly all set for folders for the good while. Although I do have a pretty nice Gerber Parabellum with the original sheath that acts as a survival kit if need be if anyone is interested in trading for another SOCOM! Keepem sharp

fwiw the SOCOM and SOCOM elite are diff, the S OCOM has a std liner lock while the elite has a "microbar" IIRC, whatever its called its much more heavy duty, also the elite has a thicker handle, and some other things too.

not that a std SOCOM is bad but its not an elite.

also IIRC most SOCOMs are manual while most elites are autos.
