Microtech Socom Elite

If you say “hard use”, I would put that on level with something I’d stake my life on... and I’d never stake my life on an auto. Don’t get me wrong, they’re fun to fidget with but if I need to depend on a hard use knife I’d get the manual. A spring and button means more that could go wrong.

Dont wanna be captain obvious - but seriously a few drops of gun oil in an Ultratech goes a long way for a long time.

I filled that sucker up with RemOil just like the Microtech video explains to do, improved only slightly, still takes the meat off my thumbs like a cheese-grater with the pressure it takes to move it.

That’s not correct for it to be that hard to actuate it. It does seem to smooth out a bit over time, but not from a starting point you describe, an Ultratech just isn’t supposed to be that hard to begin with. There was a member in the automatic forum that had a similar problem with his new UTX85, he switched out the insides with another he had and that cured the problem he had with lockup.

Sometimes it’s just a matter of thumb direction your using to push it. It works easiest for me in a smooth push across, not a downward push as that can be harder to do. I’ve got a UTX70 that is very hard for me to close due to my hand size but my daughter can do it easy as pie. Maybe try a different thumb angle or/and post over here too.

The only thing about the manual is that it has those lines that look like cracks on the pile side of the handle.

I love my manual but that’s just my preference.
