microtech socom (manual) or BM 750 pinnacle?

If you absolutely have to compare those two knives, and those are the only knives to choose from, there really is no comparison.

The socom elite wins hands down. Although the 750 is an attempt at providing a monolock configuration, I have seen more then one that had blade play and were not centered. The action was sticky on the one that I traded away and the blade wasn't centered.

Based on my experience, QC had a lot to be desired on the 750.

With regard to the Socom, Socom Elite or any other MT knife, I have not experienced any QC problems whatsoever. I must have owned at least 30 different Microtechs from autos to manuals to DAs, etc. Never a problem.

If you are really looking for a monolock confirmation, there is nothing that beats the Sebenza. Especially if you plan on using it. You can get great deals on used ones on the forum and if you are AR like me, you can send it back to CRK for reconditioning if necessary.

If you are just looking for an all around great EDC, and those two are your choices, go with the MT..

It would be alot easier to recommend a specific knife, if you provided information about the intended purpose of the knife.

;)

Thanks to each one of you that have replied to my post, not only have you been very helpfull and made my decision easier to make, but I've also learned quite a bit about knives in general. Thanks again!

In the end it all comes down to personal opinion. Both knives are quality tools.
When I buy tools I look at quality first, and the tools ability to do what I need it too. Then I look at value. I don't put much thought into appearance. Although my yellow and black dewalt drill really sets a nice contrast to my workbench and the stainless trim on the chuck really looks sharp :D
I've been carrying a BM750S for the last year or so. Its a workhorse that I use very hard, and it always comes through. Its a no frills kind of knife. The Ti handle slabs don't just make for a nice locking mechanism they take a beating, and may get scratched up a little but thats all the wear they show. No cracks, chips, dents, or other damage that can easily occur to most handle materials. the blade may not be a super steel, but its tough, and performs well. ATS34 is good stuff and the geometry of the blade is great. Its almost the perfect compromise of both cutting ability and strength. A nice thick cross section all the way down the blade right up to the point. But not overly thick anywhere. Its not pretty, but it works. And at about $100 it can be replaced when the time comes, which wil be awhile. I could pick out a much more expensive knife that would do the same things as teh pinnacle, but when its time came it would just cost more to replace. IMHO, you get what you pay for, but that doesn't make the most expensive tool the best tool.
I'm not knocking you guys who carry more expensive stuff. Its all a matter of what you like.
