Microtech Tachyon Pics :)

Mike,

I think it's a great concept. I like everything I can see; the blade shape, sandwich construction, handle slots, weight bias to the rear, and I like the size. Very high-tech in design and appearance, unlike any other bali I can think of.

I say wrap up the engineering and go for it!

Oh yeah, a satin finish blade would contrast nicely with the flat look of the blasted handles.

WOW!!!

It looks tons better when the handles don't look gold and when you can see the lines of the blade!! That is a sweet blade!!

The Tachyon should hit the streets at sub $200 prices. Please check with your favorite dealer to order one.

The gold color on the pics you have seen so far is from the poor lighting in the show. The pics I have are actually scans and I had to make the blade from nearly scratch (hard to tell huh?).

As soon as this damn rain lets up I will get some more pics.

I saw a picture that Gollnick took of it next to a 42 and it is considerably smaller, it sounds like it is about an inch or so smaller than the 42 but about an inch larger than the 3" Bali-Songs. I guess they are trying to get both crowds of 4" and 3" preferences: blade is 3.75 inches long

So exciting!!! I cant wait to see one (moving at light speed through my fingers)!!!

Mike: Just want to make sure you got my email the other day?

Also, what's the word on the limited run with nemesis blades? Ever since i grabbed a nemesis in atlanta, i cant stop thinking about having a nemi' bladed bali to go with it!

Thanks you and Congradulations all of your great work Mike!!

I really like everything I see about the Tachyon. I was skeptical about the handle inserts, but as described by Chuck, hey, they might be very cool.

I really like the size. I've got so many 4" knives now that any other size seems refreshing to me.

Where do I order?!

question: is that a false edge on the top, and if not, will there be more flippable blade styles upon release?

I got to see this personally at the Blade show and can tell ya all that it is going to be a great butterfly! First one that I have seen with any quality since the Jody Samson era! I can't wait to get one or two.

very sleek... 3.75" not so bad. this may be a dumb question, but does anybody know what the weight is supposed to be like on one of those? i just wish i could put my hands on one or see one up close. anyone know the approximate cost?

From Chuck's site, the retail price is $199.99, but surely we can get that at a lower price. Probably around $120 to $130.

You won't see them at that low a price anywhere as they actually cost me more than that

Mike,

Well, at an MSRP of $200.00, just how much are we looking from a Dealer? Please don't take it as bitching about the price, I'm not, I just want to know the "damage" beforehand.
biggrin.gif

I mean, most good Dealers are going to have a knife at below, in some cases, well below the MSRP.

Now, I knew before you posted that there was no way whatsoever that knife was going to go in the low hundreds, that having been said, what is the ballpark price for this knife from a Dealer?

It is one awesome piece of work...

That is up to the dealers. I will in no way try to effect the end price. In fact the MSRP will soon go up. $199.99 was set up for initial orders to get the project rolling. I think that $199.99 will be the actual street price from most dealers.

Given that blade length for legal purposes is most often measured from the handle material to the tip, the length of this blade seems perfect.
