With great hesitation, I am going to sell my blackout ultratech. It has been fired a lot, used very little. There are some wear spots on the blade from deployment and light cutting tasks. There is also slight wear on the firing button. When I first received it, it was not very sharp, so I sent it off to be sharpened, when they sent it back to me, all of a sudden it had misfires all the time. I have cleaned it out with lighter fluid a few times and relubricated it with nano oil. It now fires %95 of the time. I firmly believe it opening it and giving it a thorough cleaning will resolve the %5. Also firing it downwords it doesn't seem to have a problem firing at all. The edge is convexed and polished now and the pictures do not do it as much justice. If you have any questions or would like to see more pictures, please feel free to ask me! Asking price is $180 for this limited knife. I believe only 300 were made. Box and paperwork are included.

I think your best bet is to send it in for repair ( possibly blade replacement) to microtech. The sharping seems a bit extreme and has changed the blade geometry just enough to cause an occasional hang up. That would explain why it fires well downwards since gravity would hold the blade straighter in it's channel. Might also try to get your money back from the sharpening service.
 
Hey everyone. I just wanted to update on this blade. I have cleaned it once more. it fires better than ever this time. but i did notice one huge factor into the blade not deploying, some of the screws were loose. which would make the top scale not hold down the mechanism for firing the blade. i have torqued them down as good as i can with my fingers, and that is the biggest thing that improved deployment. So if you are interested in my ultratech, consider getting yourself one of the special tools to tighten the screws. i have also dropped the price to $180. I dont think i can let it go less than this.
