Microtech warranty trouble

Great to hear that they helped you out but too bad it took that kind of BS to get it done.

I had an LCC and stripped out one of the screws holding the pocket clip 4 or 5 years ago and I called them about it. They sent me a little bag with all of the screws and a new clip, no questions asked. I thought it was pretty good.

If they give you any more trouble let me know. I live about 30 miles south of them and will go up there and kick ass and take names.

I've had good luck with Spyderco CS, I don't presently own any Benchmades but I understand their's and Kershaws cust. service ( I do own) is excellent. My one or two Cold Steels have been fine for the money. I had a Microtech Socom 1/97 I foolishly sold here on the Forums for a pittance at the time.... but to hear about this kind of 'service', especially in this hard economy, when every customer is a gem.... well, I don't know why anyone would bother spending $$$ on a Microtech now.

Microtech should rot in hell. They sell over priced gimmicks that don't work, and they don't back their products. I have $400.00 invested in crap! The seller "Not Your Moma's Knives" is also very worthless. I wish bad things upon both companies. DON"T BUY MICROTECH. and DON"T SHOP at "not Your Moma's Knives" They both suck.

Having suffered through my own series of disappointments with the Microtech CS department in the past, I can certainly sympathize with you here. That said, when airing criticisms of this nature, it is helpful (and only fair to the company in question) to include specific examples to illustrate your point. The GB&U forum is often the best place to explore these issues and/or chime in in support of others experiencing similar problems. There's certainly no rule against dredging up 2 year old threads, but when doing so, it's best if the new post has a more direct connection to what was being discussed originally. Thanks. :)

Unfortunately, Offshorecop has made it his Bladeforums career to badmouth Microtech. It seems this is all he posts, and all over the place. I've had enough of this, and will infract him for this one.

So does the packing slip you got with your fixed knife mean that the company itself doesn't have any extra parts to fix your knife, but the owner pulled one out of his own drawer and fixed it? That sounds weird, maybe not that he would do that, but write that on the packing slip. Odd, to me. As far as Benchmade goes, they will go way out of their way to help you. One reason out of my last dozen folders eleven are Benchmades.
