Microtech

Given the oppotunity to purchase a LCC D/A or a Socom Elite Auto which do you think is a better knife.

I agree with the LCC choice, and I own both. It is, however, like making a decision between a Viper and a Diablo...--OKG

I was so impressed with the LCC (my first Microtech) I ordered a Kestrel. The fit and finish are wonderful.

I'll go against the crowd here and say the plunge lock on the SOCOM Elite and handle ergonomics make it a better knife than the LCC/DA. If you are looking for cool factor, the LCC/DA wins hands down, but if you are looking for the better user knife, I vote for the SOCOM Elite auto.

I agree with Chief.

I have both and for a heavy duty user the Elite is awesome. What does it for me is the handle, the Elite is more comfortable to hold for longer periods of time. The LCC has the sweat factor thing going on, gets a little slippery. Handle ergonomics is a personal thing, just my take on it.

I just got an LCC D.A. today. The bolster release requires two handes to operate and the liner lock does not engage unless moved into position manually.

Richard,

You can easily operate the bolster release with one hand with a little patience and practice. Imagine putting your finger on the bolster like you are going to open the blade using the thumbstud, and then "pinching" the bolster to rotate it to the down position. Once you get it down, its intuitive. If there is a problem with the liner lock not engaging, it should go back to whoever you purchased it from for a replacement and shame on them for not checking it before shipping it to you. If your dealer is uncooperative, you may have to send it back to Microtech.

Chief,

Thanks for the Info, but my problem with this unit is it takes EXTREME force to get the bolster to move, can't be done with my thumb. So I whittled up an accessory wooden punch pin & attached it to the lanyard that comes with the knife.

Anyone else out there have a similar problem with their L.C.C DA?

Hi guys,

I have had my LCC for about a week now, and am ashamed to say that I just, this morining, got the lanyard tied to how I want it to be

Anyway, I LOVE this fine piece of work. To the individual who complains about the bolster release being "difficult" to operate, I have to agree somewhat. But, I think it will get easier to move when worn in more. At first, I couldn't figure out how to open the d**n thing! But now, like Chief, I believe said, it is second nature.

As for the cool factor, LCC wins hands down.

I am hoping to purchas a MA SOCOM Elite soon, so I will have both styles, but for neatness, and, believe me, it IS heavy duty, the LCC can't be beat. Just MHO.

Thanks,

Richard,

From your description, sounds like your knife needs to go back to MT. MT has outstanding customer service. Since it is a new knife, your dealer should take care of you in my opinion.
