Here for sale is this BIG antique hawkbill navaja, unknown maker - Very cool knife

I think this is in the right sale forum as it is OLD & TRADITIONAL though unknown if production or custom.

HERE IS WHAT I KNOW - from the BF member from whom I purchased this a while back:

"This has been in my family for years. Spanish, I reckon 1940s, with what appears to be a hand forged and polished blade. Unknown maker, unmarked, as is usual with similar knives. Knife is huge, blade is 6" long, over a foot long open. Do not have a ruler handy so set down a dollar for size comparison. Traditional ratcheting lock works perfectly, brass fixtures. Unknown wood resembles cocobolo or cherry. A few marks on the mirror finish. Blade opens easily and locks up tight. This is a full dress sacatripas style fighter. Unknown maker. Edge will cut paper, but should be resharpened. I believe this is something like L6 sawblade steel, 1/8" thick. Very well made and unusual knife. I haven't seen another like it."

This description is unchanged EXCEPT that I did sharpen a bit better.

Detail of brass bolster/lock bar - works great but not a one hander! LOCK UP is absolutely solid - no blade play whatsoever.

HOW IT WORKS

The blade will open to full position with one motion from closed BUT if you go slowly it clicks and locks in 3 intermediate (partially opened) positions. In order to close the blade you need pull up on the lock tab (seen on the bottom in this view) to full vertical and the blade easily falls closed.

Not an American traditional but a classic nonetheless.
