HERE FOR SALE - This big (13"+ open) Navaja

RELISTED
HERE IS WHAT I KNOW - from the BF member from whom I purchased this a while back:
"This has been in my family for years. Spanish, I reckon 1940s, with what appears to be a hand forged and polished blade. Unknown maker, unmarked, as is usual with similar knives. Knife is huge, blade is 6" long, over a foot long open. Traditional ratcheting lock works perfectly, brass fixtures. Unknown wood resembles cocobolo or cherry. A few marks on the mirror finish. Blade opens easily and locks up tight. This is a full dress sacatripas style fighter. Unknown maker. Edge will cut paper, but should be resharpened. I believe this is something like L6 sawblade steel, 1/8" thick. Very well made and unusual knife. I haven't seen another like it."
This description is unchanged EXCEPT that I did sharpen a bit better. Still could use some edge refinement.
This 70+ year old knife is by no means pristine. Scratches on the blade and wear around the pivot to be expected. Someone has cleaned the blade as there is no patina as you would expect. The wood (not cherry- something more dense) scales are in great shape and pinned tight. Blade lock up is solid.

HOW IT WORKS -
The blade will open to full position with one motion from closed BUT if you go slowly it clicks and locks in 3 intermediate (partially opened) positions. In order to close the blade you need pull up on the lock tab (seen on the top in the bolster detail photo below) to full vertical and the blade easily falls closed.
FULL SIZE GOODNESS

DETAIL OF BRASS BOLSTER/LOCK BAR - works great but not a one hander! LOCK UP is absolutely solid - no blade play whatsoever.

DETAIL OF TIP - Just a bit of snipe - exaggerated by the camera close up.

KNIFE WILL BE SHIPPED - USPS priority mail to all US addresses.
For shipping outside the US PM to discuss additional S&H costs.
PAY PAL GOODS please.
POST - "I'll take it" here in thread AND send PM or email through my profile link above.
Thanks much. Ray
