Mid Sized Assault Packs

I returned the Tactical Tailor Urban Operator and bought the 5.11 Tactical RUSH 24 instead. The 5.11 has more features, organization and comfort…

The OP made mention of a 3day back in the original post. One thing I like about Tactical Taylor is not only are they a local company but everything is also made in house in Tacoma, WA. It is not very often you find companies still making their bags in the USA. Moreover, their warranty is also top notch!

Here is my TT bag (bought mine in OD and 2 additional pouches). I bought the base version and you can add on additional pouches as you see fit. I would not suggest the 3day assault plus due to the fact you can't customize that bag.

At 35 liters I would definatly call the Rush 24 a 3 day pack. My Rush 72 is way bigger at 55 liters than any other "3 day pack".

So, I would like to get a mid sized assault pack that I could carry everyday equipment in, use for camping/hiking, or in the field. A couple caught my eye, the Eagle Industries A-III Pack and the Blackhawk 3 Day Assault Pack. Any review of these products of suggestions for other packs would be appreciated. Would love some user insight

I had to replace my old Camelbak Transalp a few months ago, and after much research bought a Maxpedition Vulture II in Foliage Green.

This pack is great! It is VERY sturdy -- so tough it may never actually wear out. It's got a nice handle on top so I can grab it and throw it in the truck whenever I head out; decently padded shoulder straps; a decent waist belt that tucks out of the way when not needed; and several different compartments for stowing things.

The pack is not perfect -- because it's so sturdy, it can rub a bit due to the stiffness. I've carried it on a long, very strenuous hike, and it did really well. I haven't gone out on multi-day excursions with it, but if you pack carefully and strap some stuff on the outside it could serve well in that role, too.

Bottom line is that this is a great pack for carrying all sorts of daily gear in, and works well for carrying on hikes, too. Plus it looks darn good!
