wasForged this sword out tonight, felt like making something with a persian/middle eastern style. Not sure what you would call it, depends on the hilt?

Actually, it is called a shamshir. It is the Persian word for sword. ( my wife speaks farsi as her second language).

Most any Persian style sabre with a good amount of curvature is generally called a shamshir.

The handle should be a reverse of the curvature of the blade, ending in a ball butt
( Sam, now you can have a sword with a ball butt to match the balls on your dagger)

Thanks guys!

Looks good bud, what's the steel?

Thanks Nick, wish it was wootz :(, just some 5160. started out at 1/4" by 1 1/2" by 15", now it's about triple that hehe, 1/8" thick all the way up, light and fast.

DRT, hehe awesome :D

Stacy, Not sure if I will mount it with the ball end, not like I need more balls :D I have some different ideas on how the hilt will be, let's just say it will be different hehe, just hope it doesn't look to gauche.
