Middle-of-the-night online knife purchase while impaired, that you regretted the next morning?

Apparently this is somewhat common practice among some -- for a number of things, not just knives?

The reason I ask is that a friend has this truly beautifully made knife. I asked him what it was for, as I wasn't sure how to hold it? He laughed and explained the online shopping in the middle of the night while impaired phenomenon to me.

These are some of the great advantages to a low level of alcohol consumption: fewer regrets, and no tattoos or piercings. And zero - zero - middle of the night knife purchases that I regret.

No offense intended to those who have beautiful tattoos or tasteful piercings that were done when they were sober. I had an Army buddy who went out drinking one night and the next day he showed up with a tattoo of Pepe' le Pew on his arm with 'Stinky' underneath the picture. I kid you not... wonder what his nickname has been ever since, don't you?

I did a LOT more drinking when I was young. Which is why I don't drink very much now. Spent enough time hugging porcelain and sleeping it off. I have better things to do in life now. Which is not to say I don't enjoy a drink or two, now and then. But I'm careful to limit myself and drink responsibly.

Did you make any knife purchases during those times?

I know some people who have regretted things they've done when they were impaired, but no one has shared a story with me to date about knife purchases while they are inebriated. I feel sure it happens though, especially in COVID times when many of us are stuck at home on the 'net with our beer and booze.

Marcinek, I apologized for my topic drift, even though the first part of my post does address the main topic.

In future, if you choose to reply, please include something germane to the primary topic of discussion! You of all people should know this, because you seem keen to make sure that the rest of us do so. Your cooperation is appreciated, and I say this in the spirit of peace and goodwill that you (sometimes) embody.

No problem, Skippy.

I stay away from late night online shopping. During the day I buy practical tools, but if I’ve had a few evening drinks, I buy things like push daggers, Balisongs, and serrated Spyderco Civilians. Evidently I’m scared of spooky things that creep around at night.

Sometimes if im not sure about making a purchase, ill drink enough to impair decision making. If it still doesnt seem like a good idea then i know for a fact it must be a bad purchase.

In other cases when i do make the purchase, after i receive the knfe, im happy i had that extra drink.

If I'm honest, I probably need to be fairly creative when justifying most of my knife purchases, especially to other people. It doesn't seem to matter what my state of sobriety is or what time of the day or night. :D

Thank God these days I just get sleepy after we go out to eat & I put on a public display of "Quaffing beer". :D

Hell, just last week I had too many bong rips and pot brownies and voila!....LG inkosi insingo with black micarta shows up 3 days later....
