Hi Everybody, Here’s a new to me design I’m offering, called Fangers cause I like to make up words as well as knives.
Steel .204” 5160 with professional HT to 60/61 hand sanded to 1500 grit for a reflective satin finish. The swedge is tapered from full width at the back to near sharp towards the tip.
Edge before sharpening was .015” or so and the blade glides through phone book paper, leather, rope etc.
Dimensions: 10 5/8” OAL, Tip to Scales 5 3/8” Width about 1 13/16” It weighs about 10oz, balances at the finger choil and feels great in my average sized hand.
The handle is a deep red Padauk sanded to 1200 grit and finished with multiple coats of Danish oil and carnauba wax. The 1/8” brass pins go really well with the wood don’t you think?
The lined sheath is carved with a smilodon, kind of a fangy creature from north and south America, extinct since the end of the Ice Age.
