I own an older carbon steel Tigershark that was advertised and sold as the Midnght Tigershark. It has a blued (blackened) finish on it. Does this have any collector's value? The knife has been used (it was when I bought it) by a soldier who carried it in the first Gulf War. It is however in excellent condition and has all of its bluing and looks almost new. I have never used it. Does anyone know the value of a blade like this? Thanks for your input.

Not sure if it has much collectors value (I'm a user) but I bet it would make a great user. :) I know my satin finished Carbon steel Tigershark is awesome!! Works well in the kitchen and at the camp site. :thumbup:

I'm no SOG expert but I imagine that particular knife is fairly rare. If it is blued, then its the older carbon steel Tigershark. Like I said, not an expert but if it's in good condition, it would be worth holding onto.
 
Don't know the value, mate... but I'd imagine a fair bit over the current value of the old skool SK-5 Tigersharks!

One of my grails, if you ever want to sell it... give me a shout! :D
 
I'm thinking a real-deal Midnight Tiger is quite a rarity !! No idea what the value would be.

And I'm thinking there are lots of folks around this Forum who would love to have an old carbon-steel Tigershark, Midnight or otherwise.

Thanks for the reply guys. I may sell it in the future, but every time I look at it I say to myself, Naaaa! I will give you a shout, Big Ocean, if the need for cash overcomes my love for this old Tigershark.

Here they are. The sheath is a Gerber, however the original owner said it came with the knife. The smudge on the Seki Japan pic is my fingerprint. Enjoy!

I'ld say this much.
It certainly is just the type of sheath for the long discontinued Gerber BMF.
I do think that the only "collectors" who would pay REALLY GOOD money for an old gun blued SK-5 MidniteTigershark would have to be vintage SOG knife collectors...
Or someone who needs a really awesome looking black bowie.
It's a fine knife alright.

Not too sure what it is about the Tigersharks but there are "extra" mean looking to me :)

Wow, that is by far the best looking tiger shark I have ever seen. Now I really hate the serrations on mine. How old would you say yours is? I've had mine for almost 10 years. Makes me wonder how many changes sog has made to it over the years.

By the way, it is a sheath for the old Gerber BMF. Thanks for all of the positive comments. If I decide to part with it, I will let some of you know who might be interested. For now I will lock it back in the safe. :D
