The numbers refer to the blade length, in millimeters. 75mm Persian blade is 75mm long, Blade lengths of the 83mm Manix and the 79mm and 93mm Rescues follow that same logic.

ok, makes sense i suppose but why in the world use metric??

thanks for the info, too.

I dunno, maybe because mm is the SI unit while inches isn't or because Spyderco uses mm with all their software. Might just be because it's easier to say "83 mm Manix" (or "Mini-Manix") rather than "three and a quarter inch Manix".

Really not sure.

Possibly because 75mm looks neater than either 2 and 15/16ths or 2. 9375 and it's meant mainly as a way of identifying the model, so you can always look up the blade length in inches if you are so inclined.

Spyderco is an international corporation, doing business in North & south america, Europe, the pacific rim, africa, etc. I'm quite sure they are even ( not sold there ) in antartica.

Most of the world uses metric. Using metric is logical. They are typically advertised and sold here as inches to the tenths. JL

they do it just to screw with us-one kid in the history of america pays attention in school durring metric week and its sal-:)
