Mike Alsdorf: "Slimline Trapper"

I recally seeing that FS and admiring it. I'm just now starting to look at the customs & haven't yet taken the leap to buy one. That one is stunning, IMO. Love that pic looking at the spine. Assume the 11 in the tang stamp indicates year of manufacture?

Yes you are right, it's the year of production. Mike adds the year to his knives.

Mike B.

PS-I should have browse down and see Mike's reply, Sorry about that.

I like that Slimline Trapper Elliott! Mike sure makes a nice knife and the fancy pins really add a nice touch. I had an ivory doctor that Mike made. It got away from me, much to my regret.

Elliot, that is a great looking pattern. I've owned a number of Mike's knives over the years. Mike even made me a mirror image lefty in his slimline trapper pattern. One could hardly ask for a better made knife.

Thanks, Gary & Jerry. I really am quite pleased with this one and have already shared a couple of ideas with Mike for a possible future project or two. ;)

Howdy Elliot.
Well...I dont quite know where my head was stuck in the sand when you put this thread up!, I have had a look at Mikes knife...went away, and had to come back and look again....man, that is one well put together knife there Sir!
Did you give the knife - as in scales and rivets a polish up?...they look much shinier than Mikes images...if so, I think it looks better with the sheen....maybe just lighting...either way Elliot, that is one honey of a knife, Congrats to you, and that fine Maker Mike Alsdorf... Excellence all round.

Hey Duncan...I did not polish the knife at all...that's the way it looks. Mike's own images in this case don't do justice to his work.

The only thing I may have ever gotten on the scales is a little mineral oil after handling some other knives or wiping down a blade, but the polish you see is all Mike's doing.

Thank you, Duncan. I agree, Mike does very nice work.

Very nice looking knife. I too have looked at Mike's knives and felt they were a little to small. This one looks "just right"!
