I'm a St. Louis transplant from Knoxville and didn't realize there were any brick and mortar knife shops until a few weeks ago. I managed to swing by Grand Prairie Knives in Troy Il about 15 minutes from the arch. I was surprised at the size of the place, inventory, and great prices. I wandered around like a kid in a toy store!
They had some Spyderco closeouts, some of the new stuff (Ocelots, Adventuras) as well as some old (Lum Chinese.) I looked at their Benchmade stuff and was glad I didn't order a Skirmish without handling it first... it's just too big for EDC for my purposes. I ended up buying a Mini-Skirmish in the limited edition blue. Great price... I took a few minutes to salivate over the Chris Reeve knives that I couldn't afford.
I talked with Mike awhile, whom I presume to be the owner. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and nowhere near pushy.
It was almost as much fun to meet a forum member in person... Anthony Cheeseboro, who just happened to be in the shop. One helluva nice guy.

I just thought I'd share!
