Mike Norris Knives

Exactly. You have nothing to apologize for stricknine.

Get those feelings out there..you'll feel better.

Mr. Garsson,
Please accept my apology, I did not intend to "irratate" you nor anyone else, it was my intention to recognize a friend that has not recieved much recognition openly and I did want to draw attention to the fact that he is making knives again.

As you can see by my posts I am fairly new to the forum, but not to collecting knives, maybe my original post would have served better in another venue.

Again I apologize and thanks for your open comments.

Ronnie

It is I who owes the apology to YOU, Ronnie........ sorry to have pooped in your thread.:o

Enjoy your time at BladeForums, and if I may be of service in any way, please don't hesitate to PM me.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Thanks Steve,

Stricknine, I didn't know Mike was making knives again. I don't even know where he is nowadays, having not seen him in years. I do still have two knives he made for me years ago before he even began to make damascus.
Tripper

hey tripper,

as you may know mike was in the stanly county area for several years and then relocated to kentucky, i was told the easiest way to get up with him was at blade and that is where i met him.
i know several people that are very close to him and i do work in the stanly county area.
send me an e-mail and we will talk. i do have one of his knives that was made in 1990 and it has never been on a stone. i had mike to evaluate it at blade this year.
he is now one of the top damascus steel makers in the world now and specializes in stainless damascus.
he is an awesome person and you are fortunate to have two of his knives, did he make them for you or did you get them elsewhere?

take care and e-mail me, my email is accessible through the forum.

Please view this excellent work done by Mike in the early 90's, I was able to obtain this knife approximately 8 months ago and I am very proud of it.

His workmanship shows much attention to detail and the knife is in mint condition.

Not the greatest photo in the history of the world, but from what I can tell that looks like a real beauty.

gentlemen, i will take close ups of the knife and re-post, actually this is my first photo of a knife period and it was with a cannon ae-1 program camera, and i needed to practice with it, (taking pictures of knives) will shoot some close-ups at several different angles and lighting.

thanks for your viewing, ronnie

Couple of Mikes early knives. Both ATS34 and caribou horn. He also made the sheaths. I've used them both on deer, they work great, hold a good edge.

hey tripper,

looks like you have the knives with albemarle nc on them, that is awesome, he does some very clean work with great lines and attention to detail. i have heard that he would spend a great deal of time and effort on a blade and if he was not satisfied, he would put it in a vise and snap it, then toss it.

will be in touch...
