Mike is awesome. I've bought twice from him, and every time he had sent the order the same day he received it. He's responded to almost all my e-mails in less than two hours and all my orders came perfect.

Also, the box my last knife came in had drawings on it custom made by his children. Now that is what I call good service!

When you shop with him, it doesn't seem like you are shopping over the internet like it does with most dealers. You feel a little bit more connected, almost like if you were buying locally.

Just gotta bring this back to the top and add my sentiments too. Mike is fast, friendly and comes from a kickin' town too.

Correction, Comrade Chang: He's like doin' bizness with a cool neighbor. I'll be back.

More good things about Mr. Payne follow. I made my third order for a knife. The knife was described to me as having a slight chip in the edge (special sale item). He took a lot of care in getting it to me. In fact, he shipped it before I even sent the payment to him. Wow! Talk about a trusting guy. Anyways, when I got the knife, the chip started to really bother me, and I asked if I could trade it in for a CRKT Navajo. Well, later I decided I would maybe keep the knife, and I told him that, and he said OK, but he wanted to make sure I was satisfied with the deal so that he could sleep at night. Well, after examining the knife further, I found that the chip would be very hard to sharpen out, and contacted him again, asking if he would be willing to do a trade in for a Microtech UDT, and I pay some extra cash to make up the price difference. He didn't have to agree to it, but he did. So the final deal was I return the knife to his distributor (to correct the chip and some blade play problems presumably), pay him $75 extra, and he send me the MT UDT.

I told him that I would have to mail the knife back to his distributor on Monday, because my Post Office was relocating and was closed on Saturday for this week, and so I couldn't get the Postal Money Order (for the $75) until Monday as well. He said that it was no problem, and that I could just mail it on Monday. He then mailed the UDT to me, even before I shipped the knife to the distributor and before I had even bought the payment. Talk about good service! I'm impressed. He had not even received the first money order for the original knife yet! No other business has ever gone out of their way to serve me like this before. This is truly the best service I have ever gotten from anybody. So for anybody who was considering purchasing knives from him... do it! You won't be disappointed. Also, during my e-mail conversations, I had made him stay up till about 1:00 AM e-mailing me back and forth (with very fast responses), and he didn't even start to get the least bit annoyed. Words cannot do this man's service quality justice. He's great to deal with.

Did I mention how the receipt came with a crayon drawing from Mike's kids? It had a picture of the Colt AR-15K automatic knife and "For Chang:" written on it. At Knives and Things, they always strive to give you more for your money! I got a future Picasso's artwork for no extra charge!
