Mike Quesenberry Dagger...with foto

I'd like to thanks Bill for being such a great customer and about as easy going as they come. Thank you Bill:-)

Coop - amazing photos as always. I still remember talking to you about the first one(ebony handle)and how impressed I was with your photos. Thank you

I talked to Bill about this new idea I had for his dagger, a tapered fuller. Well he was all for it. The first dagger to recieve this treatment went to the Arkansas show where Bill got to inspect it up close. We both agreed its how the blade should have been done all along. It flows naturally with the taper in the blade.

Thank you all for the kind words.

Not only is this knife awesome, all Mike's work is and he is such a nice guy to deal with!! I "discovered" Mikes work a few years ago before he got his JS stamp and started collecting his knives as soon as I saw the superb workmanship he was putting into them, Fit and finish is some of the best I've seen.

Now I would like to tell you a story relating to Mike:

Talking to Tim Hancock a few years ago he said to me "Are'nt you the guy that buying all the Mike Quesenberry knives" when I sad yes he told me to buy as many as you can because a few years down the line he is going to be one of the best there is out there. He then proceeded to tell me story about when he was starting out making and selling knives. At a show a guy asked him how much a particular knife cost, Tim told him and the guy just could not afford it so passed on the deal. The same guy saw Tim a few years later and saw how much his knives were selling for and said to him "God damn it I knew I should have bought that knife off you last time we met, now I will never be able to buy one of your knives"..... I took Tim's advice and now have over 10 of Mikes knives in my collection with more to come.

gotta admit, this piece makes me a little light headed! Truly a beauty of a piece and a great example of Mike's dedication to, well, everything that has anything to do with the art of knife making.

Just fantastic, Bill. I'm sure that tapered fuller wasn't easy, but it does indeed elevate the piece. It's so often the case that going the extra mile on a seemimgly small detail can have that exact result. Props to Mike!

Thanks to everyone for the comments and of course thanks to Mike and Coop :thumbup:

Daggers are not everyone's cup of tea - definitely a "niche" kinda thing.

Having said that, I personally like them alot :D......

Even for someone as talented as Mike, I'm sure they are a PITA to make because of the need for perfect symmetry.

Roger, you're right that even small details make a huge difference, and I think that makers who keep refining their efforts ( even when they ALREADY do great work ) are the guys who just keep getting better.

Mike could not be easier to work with and communicate with, and I can't wait to see his MS knives (well, actually, I HAVE seen a couple :p)

It's hard for me to imagine how anyone can not like daggers. This is a gorgeous example, simple and clean but very refined. Thanks for sharing.

Congrats Mike on a fine acquisition.
Mike's knives are always so well done.:thumbup::thumbup:
