Mike Quesenberry MS ~ Art of Steel 2016 Best Historical

yeah, that one deserved a win, even without seeing the competition.

The checkering, which I usually am not a huge fan of for a lot of reasons, is just beautiful. I haven't seen it done that well before, and I have seen it on everything from cheapo knives to Holland and Holland shotguns.

way to go Mike (and Caleb).

I inspected that handle in detail.
Those gold "pins" are actually 24 Ct tiny gold wire. And I mean TINY!
Mike's description of how he layed that out and created the gold domes right in the center of the peak was pretty cool.
He's on his game.

Where was that Karl, I'd like to read that?

Ditto. I'm trying to imagine how I'd do the pins & peaks... but everything I come up with seems crazy difficult. My mill would likely be involved.
Awesome piece.

disgustingly perfect :D i drooled over the checkering and how the dots are in the exact center of each one.

What a stellar knife and photo's.

I am a huge fan of the handle material, the checkering, and the pin work just ices the cake!

Outstanding as we would expect from Mike Q. Well deserved award, congratulations! Love that gold pique work

I had the great pleasure to handle this one at Little Rock. Everything well thought out & perfectly executed. Mike keeps pushing the threshold of greatness. He never rests on new ideas that he wants to try out.

Calebs fantastic image just shows all the great things I was talking about.

Congrates to Mike for the award and the collector for a fine addition to his collection of knives.
