Mike Sastre of River City Sheaths?

I spoke with him last night via e-mail.He said he was at the Spirit of Steel Show, I believe was the name of the show he said.He would be back in Ohio around Wednesday or Thursday.

Thanks! I'll try then. He hasn't responded to my e-mails to the e-mail address on his website since May. I thought he died.

If you do a search on Mike, you will find 3 things about his character:

1. There are many comments from many different people that he is an upright guy.
2. He is one of the best makers of sheaths in the business, some people report he is the best.
3. His communication is woeful.

I tried to contact him by email and phone about a year ago to ask him to make a sheath for me. I eventually gave up. I never ever did recieve any replies by emails and from memory got some crazy automated message when I tried on the phone.

I could be wrong, but I get the feeling that his talent is so well known that he has as much business as he can handle and that he prefers to work for people he meets at shows or people he knows.

I'm a repeat customer--for over two years now. I haven't had trouble getting in touch with him until now. Hence my wondering about his illness or death. I ordered a sheath back on June 14th. My money order payed on June 21st. No sheath and no communication yet. The telephone message connects you to a fax line, or tells you to call back later if you want to leave a voice message.

I've had similar experience to find out that he eventually catches up. It all depends upon when you contact him in what seems to be a cycle. If you get him at a certain point, you get service on the money. Other times, you go through times when it seems he's fallen off the face of the earth. It sometimes takes a level of patience not all folks have. Some creative folks are not the most organized. He's a very nice man in person and yes, highly skilled. His kydex is first class in appearance and operation.
