All I was saying VG is that simply because one is able to edit the current issue, it does not necessarly follow that they have access to all of the back issues. It may be a formalism, but a free subscription would be the carrot I was talking about.
Having people pledge to help out barely works with public radio and television. To get someone with editorial ability for free or on the cheap, the only way to really make them more than casual is to have them be a stakeholder. It seems to me that as soon as things get complicated or the work turns out to be of a serious volume, volunteers are the first to turn tail and say they have better ways to spend their time.
That's all I am saying. I am not trying to be redundant. Somehow, I never connected working on the current issue as being equivalent to having full access to back issues one has already worked on. Silly me.
