Good looking knife. Well done. Nice to make ones own knife.
Any particular reason, why you prefer SS over a brass guard?
I like brass guards a lot but realize it might not be the best material for every knife/situation.

Holy smokes man, that turned out great!

It is my humble opinion that all hard core knife nuts should make at least one knife themselves. I think it adds additional dimensions to the obsession, much like preparing one's own food.

It's pretty uncommon for somebody's first knife to be this well done. It's quite the accomplishment. :thumbsup:

wow- I thought I took a long time to make a knife!
Looks amazing, Mike, beautiful job:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thank you, BladeScout.
I agree, brass has been appropriately used for a long time, looks good, and can add character to a knife. It’s mostly a matter of what one likes. I lean towards stainless, for guard material, mainly because it is a bit less prone to oxidation and I’m not always as consistent as I should be at maintaining my knives. A good example was my Randal Model 14. I let it sit in the sheath a bit too long over the years and some of that green gunk developed. Easy enough to clean and totally my fault. Mike

Thanks so much, Nathan. I appreciate it.
Having Matt there for guidance, not to mention all of the appropriate tools in his shop, made all the difference. His photographic skills are the frosting on the cake.
I agree 100%, that for anyone really interested in knives, and or collecting, making one adds another degree of understanding and appreciation for what they are and what goes into them. Mike

Ha! Yes, if it takes me that long to finish the next one, I actually might not live to see it completed! Thanks, Lorien. Always good to hear from you. Mike
