Knife is now SOLD! Here is a rare opportunity to pick up a superb bowie by ABS Master Smith Mike Williams. Mike does not take orders and his bowies are very hard to come by. He will usually have one, maybe two bowies at the few shows he attends each year. Damascus pieces are even more rare.
This knife features Mike’s signature “Rolling Wave” damascus pattern which resembles a sine curve or wave, reflected out of phase on the opposite side of the blade. This bright broad path of the wave seems to curve up into the clip where it straightens out to form an accent line that visually sharpens the profile of the blade. The pattern above the wave is quite interesting as well – it looks something like a combination “pool and eye” and “rain drop”, interspersed with a widely spaced ladder pattern (the latter aspect is not really visible in the photos).
Dimensions are as follows = 10” blade, 2” wide, 15 ¼” overall length. Fittings are wrought iron and with the texture inherent in this material give the knife a bit of an old-timey feel. The handle is mortised amber stag, the fitment of which is so seamless that I had to confirm with Mike that it wasn’t a single piece.
An absolutely first rate Kenny Rowe pin-lock sheath with ray skin inlay completes the package.
The knife has not been used or carried and is in exactly the same condition as when I picked it up off Mike’s table at the 2004 Spirit of Steel show.
Price is US$1,850 delivered anywhere in the US or Canada. Shipping elsewhere at actual cost.
The first “I’ll take it” via e-mail gets the knife. E-mail checked morning and evening. Feel free to PM me with any questions.
Cheers,
Roger
PS – A final shot of maker and knife:
