:D

I am impressed with your willingness to attempt the project

Kinda like this, but bigger?

hopefully... It should be a 9 1/2 inch blade, about 14 1/2 overall length... about 0.32 thick. I'm aiming for it to be a tad heavier than the original TM, but lighter than a BM, somewhere in that niche. Exposed full tang. Red liners. Either camel bone or black linen micarta, I haven't decided yet. Full convex grind. Integral guard -- which is one benefit of the huge initial chunk of A2!

In my head it's how CS should have responded to the challenge. I realise that this makes me the bad guy on this forum :p

You're making an A2 Battle Pappy with a full tang... i'm so all over that!

Battle Pappy Specs.

Blade Steel: INFI 58-60 Rc
Blade Thickness: .320"
Blade Length: 9 3/4"
Overall Length: 15"

I think the outline is identical to a Cold Steel Trailmaster. got one in Sai Mai, decent blade, good feel, but if your wanting a similar busse go with a Bushwacker LE version.. a great feeling blade with the .22 thick stock
would have liked to see the battle pappy, but it never came out but one show.

It looks like you exactly traced out a trail master. Is that what you did or am I missing something?

as regards 'tracing'... I used the length measurements of a TM. I used the swedge angles of the #14 grind 12-9 Randall. As for the edge, Ijust drew what looked good. No actual tracing was involved, however I was looking at pictures of both the TM and the Randall for direct inspiration. I alluded to both of these in the OP.

The whole point is that I liked the look of the TM, but didnt want the sk-5 steel. And I liked the look of the Randall but I didn't have $900. What's the harm in spending 30 pounds on some A2 and seeing whether I can make somethiing that is exactly what I want. If I mess it up, what have I lost 30 pounds?! and I've gained some experience. :)

Just to clarify, I'm making this purely for my own entertainment and because I want it. I posted it here because I thought quite a few people might find the idea of resurrecting the 'old enemy' amusing.

I really should get into knife making... even if i'm bad at it, i definitely have 30 pounds i could afford to lose

It's not as though the CS Trailmaster was a unique design. Another in the endless variations of a bowie style.

Props to your project.
