I have been waiting to hit the 500-Post mark to conduct my first GAW. I want everyone to know that I truly appreciate your efforts in educating the newcomers, sometimes educating the old timers, openly talking about the traditional style of knives and knife making, and just making it a fun place to spend free-time. For these reasons, I visit daily, and sometimes hourly. I've developed some friendships and have both been receiver of gifts, as well as, giver of gifts. One would think that we all grew up together at times. This is a wonderful space for us to enjoy one another's company and talk about a passion that we all seem to have. Some call it an addiction. So, it is my turn to give to you.
Without realizing it, Tuesday evening I posted my 500th. It took me a while to accumulate these posts, as I like to take it all in, and I'm still a novice in this world of traditional pocket knives. I actually joined in 2008, seeking some help with my first love of knives, the Camillus made double lock backs. That will be the topic of another thread. It wasn't until I visited the GEC facility during the deer season of 2013 that the bug bit me. Now, I'm all in.
Tuesday evening my 500th post read, "I'm going to be at football practice for the next 3 hours." So the game for this GAW will involve football.
The Rules Are:
You must be an active member.
You must have a minimum of 50 posts.
You must have joined before 2015.
Any one posting "Not an entry, but" or of the like will be entered through random number generation anyhow.
One entry per member.
Upon winning, I will notify the winner by a post in this thread, a PM, and/or an email or to the extent the winning member's account so allows.
The winner will have 24 hours to respond with an addy, if no response is received I will proceed to the runner-up.
The Game:
I coach little league football, ages 11 and 12. Our next game is this Saturday, 8/29. We run pro-set offenses and 5-3 defense. We will be playing a team that runs a spread offense and 5-3 defense. The kids I coach have one loss in their football playing lives (since age 7).
Guess the total points scored in the game (i.e. end of the game, both team scores, added together).
And guess total number of sacks in the game, this will be used for breaking any ties.
If the same score and # of sacks are selected by multiple members, I will assign the winners a number and use a random number generator.
I will announce the results of the game and winner late Saturday or early Sunday morning.
The Prize:
Sometimes we don't participate in a GAW because the knife just isn't our style, so I've selected 4 very different knives to try and get everyone involved. PICK YOUR POISON. The winner will receive their choice (one) of the following knives.
1) GEC-Northfield-#79-African Blackwood-Single Spring Two-Blade
2) Charlie Campagna-Orchard Gem-#38-Gabon Ebony-Single Spring Two-Blade
3) QCC-S&M-#03-Small Sleeveboard-Mother of Pearl-1 of 50-Single Spring Two-Blade
4) Charlie Campagna-Harness Jack-#15-Blood Red Jigged Bone
