Miliatry vs Endura

However the Endura has a wider variety of scale and blade steel options, is lighter if you get the FRN version...

I have an FRN endura (latest design) and a cfbg42 millie and the millie is quite a bit lighter than my endura. I love both. My Endura is my hard use knife and the millie has become my backpacking/outdoors folder because of its size to weight. Both excellent knives.

I have both, go with the Military for now. Then buy an Endura later. Then get a Civilian. Next you'll need the Chinook. Then you'll want the Police.

After that, mail Sal a newly activated credit card with as high a limit as you can get and tell him to fill it up!:p

I went and held my first Endura ever over the weekend. I loved it and would have bought it on the spot except the store only had a combo edge in the 4th generation and I wanted a plain one. I ordered one off of the net as soon as I got home. Being a slipjoint man it seems that my idea of practical is changing. The moderns seem to have better ergonomics, tighter tolerances, better steel, higher grinds, ease of deployment, tighter/stronger locks, a ton more carry options, easier to clean and overall what appears to be more tool for the dollar.

I will be using this knife as a Buck 110 upgrade.

Assuming that my knife arrives equal in quality to the knife I saw in the store I will have to say that I am a fan and will be buying more in the future.

I have both, an E3 and a S30V Millie that has "MILITARY" on on the blade. I got the Endura first and I'm glad I did because I never would have bought it if I already owned the Military. Now don't get me wrong, they're both wonderful knives. But while the Endura is good, I feel that the Military is great. The blade steel and heat treatment is superb. The full flat grind makes for a very efficient cutter. The nested liner lock, while not the latest and greatest, has been more than enough for my needs. Spyderco got the liner lock right on this one. Also, the G10 handles are incredibly strong, and are much more stiff and reassuring than the more malleable FRN of the Endura. They also feel better in my hand.

Whichever you choose you won't be disappointed. These are two of the most successful designs Spyderco ever created.

I think the Military is better in every respect except the lock. Based on that, I would go with the Endura.

Yeah!

Hey, I love the Military blade shape and grind - unfortunately, the handle and lock don't do much for me.

Putting G10 (yeah, I know, one kind of plastic for another) instead of FRN on the Endura provides yet another good reason to get an Endura.
