Im not exactly sure if theres already a plan worked out for the next version of the military..What type of changes or improvements would you like to see?

Me personally..a stronger frame ie. bigger standoffs instead of the backspacer, I'd keep it's excellent slicing abilities with a not so delicate tip. I'd change the overall shape of the knife to be more straight and not so curved, allowing you to use more of the cutting surface for tasks like food prep, instead of just the belly. Pocket clip tapped for tip up/down on both sides. A thicker lockbar or perhaps eliminate liner lock and just use RIL with a stabilizer.

I disagree with all of this except of course the clip. The military needs 4-point carry. Otherwise, don't change thing. Just design another model around your specs. :D That way we both win. ;)

It just needs bigger screws, a bigger lanyard hole, and a pivot bushing would be really cool, and maybe for the choil to be a little deeper. That's it though, no other major changes are needed, it is a very fine knife as is, but with these small changes it would be an even finer knife.

The last I heard, it is being redesigned.

They mentioned possibly going with a stop lock.

This is from Sal awhile ago.

We have no intention to change the grind of the Military. Slight ergo improvements, new lock (lefty friendly) and 4 way clip are planned.

I hope they incorporate all these changes so I won't have to buy any more of them. ;) I like it just fine the way it is. I might buy a 2 if they debut the stop lock on it. I've looked at the patent drawings but I just can't visualize how it works.

I would like to see a model with a saber style hollow grind (basically a reinforced tip), a larger diameter pivot screw, larger body screws and some wide stand offs insead of the back spacer.

I love the Millie but I would like to see tip up carry option and a slightly thicker tip. I really like the slicing capability of the millie but last weekend I dinged up the tip of my XHP and now I wish it had a little more steel @ the tip.

You guys do realise that slicing ability and lateral strength are fundamentally opposed, right?

If you want a strong tip get a different knife. The Butch Vallotton being a good example.

+1. Love the tip on the Vallotton, excellent for prying, but forget removing splinters from your finger. The Military is the flagship on Spyderco for a reason. Not every alteration in design would be an improvement, particularly if it would deviate too far from the current model.
Don't get me wrong, I'd like a stronger beefier 4" folder from Spyderco (5mm blade anyone?) and would buy it for sure, without even handling or seeing it. But design a new one, somewhere between the Resilience and the Military, call it the Marine (or Commando, or Operator, or Bluto, or Hulk, or Bambi, I don't care). I'm sure it'll sell like hot cakes. In fact, take the Superleaf, make it beefier still and call it the Supersuperleaf. :D I'm pre-ordering right now!
And the new and improved (but still recognizable) Military 2.0 would as well. Like I said, only winners. :eagerness:

+1 "Spyderco Bambi"

The thing with the different carry options is that the Military probably has the screws really close to the washers, so two more holes means twice the amount of finishing work, and twice the amount of returns when an unfinished hole screws with the washer's action (like on the Para2).

Superleaf with thicker liners and a longer, blade. Thicker blade will be fine too. Tough steel like 3V. I'd take a beefy compression lock over the RIL that the TUFF will have any day of the week.

Change nothing, if anything make a new model with all the "improvements" ;)

It is pretty much perfect as it is, it needs to stay light and fast. People who need a tank should get another knife :p
