Military 2.0

+1. Love the tip on the Vallotton, excellent for prying, but forget removing splinters from your finger. The Military is the flagship on Spyderco for a reason. Not every alteration in design would be an improvement, particularly if it would deviate too far from the current model.
Don't get me wrong, I'd like a stronger beefier 4" folder from Spyderco (5mm blade anyone?) and would buy it for sure, without even handling or seeing it. But design a new one, somewhere between the Resilience and the Military, call it the Marine (or Commando, or Operator, or Bluto, or Hulk, or Bambi, I don't care). I'm sure it'll sell like hot cakes. In fact, take the Superleaf, make it beefier still and call it the Supersuperleaf. :D I'm pre-ordering right now!
And the new and improved (but still recognizable) Military 2.0 would as well. Like I said, only winners. :eagerness:

agreed all the above.

the military isn't a smf ... i don't want that, pretty sure if the knife is such an icon it's because it has the main features right. slight improvements like the para2 would be perfect.

You guys do realise that slicing ability and lateral strength are fundamentally opposed, right?

If you want a strong tip get a different knife. The Butch Vallotton being a good example.
I do realize that, i own 11 Military models and use one about 4 times a week for over 4 years now. We are talking about the Military, and not a different knife. As the original post asked the question, "what changes would you like to see?", people are answering the question.

and he is answering too. his answer is that the milie should stay thin ...

I know the liner lock has a strong following but I would love to see a compression lock, bigger choil like they did with the para2 and a better, deeper clip that is at least tip up/ tip down.

I wouldn't change anythng except the blade steel.

S90V
CTS 20CP or
M390

Any one of these as the "standard" Millie. :)

And a sprint run of B-U K390 :thumbup::thumbup:

All I want is for it to have BIGGER, STRONGER SCREWS, 4 way clip, and possibly a pivot bushing like the para 2.

The last I heard, it is being redesigned.

They mentioned possibly going with a stop lock.

This is from Sal awhile ago.

This is sweet news. I don't have a Millie yet and was waiting to see what the #2 brings. I would likely pick one up if it had a stop lock and some M390 steel...
The stop lock looks to be some type of compression style lock similar to the compression lock or axis lock. Probably a winner if Sal designed it.

*Oh, and the pivot bushing idea is great. I absolutely love my Para 2, it is pretty much the perfect folding knife.

large wire clip please!!!!!!!!

Nooo!!! Please no. :p

I wouldn't mind a nice saber grind on the Ti framelock model, make it a tank.

The g-10 model is nearly perfect the way it is, just do the refinements like the Para 2

Nooo!!! Please no. :p
Really? What advantage does the flat steel clip have? I love the wire clips as I don't have to worry about them tearing my upholstery or my parents leather couches :).
I find the wire clips just as strong, more aesthetically pleasing and better functioning.

For me it's mainly aesthetics. You're right about the wire clip being very functional though.

However, you'll never see a wire clip on a hard use folder like an XM-18, SnG, or Sebenza

I love this clip, it just seems indestructible to me

I don't have a major problem with spyderco's flat clips but I occasionally like to carry my military in my right rear pocket and have a pretty good feeling it's going to rip something someday. If they do a wire clip it should be slightly beefed up to match the size of the knife, just like they downsized it for the Dragonfly2.

ok guys go easy..im a bit faded :p

..straighter overall profile, deeper first choil like the para 2, bigger lanyard. same exact blade shape

as much as i love mine, the only thing i can think of is the lanyard hole. id also like to see a fixed blade version. full tang with micarta scales. but not as a replacement for the current model. just an offering. and id like it in s35vn.

Hmmm... I can't seem to understand those drawings. It appears like a back lock but I know it's not.

Been a while since i've looked at the patent, but I came away with the impression it was about as similar to a lockback as the compression lock is to a linerlock. In otherwords, similar in mechanical construction, much different in functionality.
