Military adjustment help

I recently purchased a second Spyderco Military, one from the S90V/CF sprint run. The lock didn't engage as far across the blade as I would like, and the blade was pretty far off center when closed. Rather than send the knife back to Spyderco, I did something stupid and tried to adjust the pivot myself. I had read on this forum that disassembly and reassembly could sometimes fix blade alignment problems, and I thought I might be able to adjust the pivot too.

After removing the pivot/blade/washers and reassembling everything the lock won't engage at all. The blade seems to sit too far back in the handle.

Does anyone have any tips as to how to adjust this thing? I ran across this thread on adjusting concentric pivots:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=163929 but it doesn't address the Military because it doesn't use a 12-pointed adjustment locking mechanism.

Try putting it together with the blade in the open position.

Here's my explanation of how to adjust the eccentric pivot on the Starmate and Military.
- taken from the thread you linked.
That said, you could just ask customer service at Spyderco, I'm certain they would be quite willing to service your Military if it came like this new from the dealer.

It would probably be simpler to simply send it in, BUT...

Loosen all the bolts,
open the knife,
slide the scales back and forth till you see the lock-up you want,
then,
starting at the end of the handle, tighten the bolts with the pivot bolt tightened last.

I've done the above and have had good results.
