Hi Folks,
There I was just sitting around this evening in my back yard, enjoying the warm fall weather and I just happened to have my dear old Military in my pocket. Having just polished it up, and cleaned and lubed the pivot with "White Lightning", I was thoroughly enjoying manipulating it's buttery smooth action.
This knife of mine is one of the early plain edge Military models in ATS-34 blade steel, with it's classy "diamond" engraving...
Spyderco
MILITARY
ATS-34 Golden, Colorado USA
I read, as the writing on the blade gleamed in the fading daylight.
I examined the knife for about the millionth time. I marvelled at the way it's liner lock snaps into position exactly to the same place each time; whether I have eased the blade open slowly, or snapped it open with a quick wrist flick. The blade doesn't move even the tiniest bit up & down or side to side when stressed, and unlocks effortlessly when manipulated that way.
"What a wonderfully made piece!" I thought to myself, as I watched the sun set in the west over the treetops from my vantage point on my sundeck. I absentmindedly reached down and cleanly shaved a swath of armhair from my forearm, which tumbled through the air almost landing in my beer can sitting next to my feet.
"Damn" I said..."That's a fine knife".
I took a sip of my cold malt beverage and noted the bare patch of skin on my forearm, before folding and stowing the knife in the right front pocket of my shorts, and ambling into the house. And I sat down at my computer to share a moment of appreciation with you all.
Best wishes, Jeff/1911.
