Military blade w/ striking pommel?

What on earth is this and when the funk and wagnalls did they introduce a hollow ground Warcraft!
I’m not sure about the other Warcrafts, especially the newer 4034 or 3v steel versions but this San Mai version (the medium size) is indeed hollow ground. Weird though because in the description from Cold Steel, they say it’s a flat ground secondary bevel. Anyway, it’s a beast and excellent slicer at the same time

And they're clearly bungling the 'chisel ground' bit, right? I am thinking that it's a case of some unfamiliar staffer recycling bits of old advertising or mixing up what different terms mean, because that's clearly their normal hollow/compound tanto grind

Even then, not so sure I’d be pounding around and opening crates with knives that are worth several hundred dollars and are so hard to even find lol
If it were me, I wouldn't either. But it was for our only son who was about to go into harm's way . . . .

In the time frame of 2000-2004, our son was on a track to enter the Marine Corps after graduating Texas A&M. Early on, I committed to buying the Randall because I wanted him to have it in recognition of that. There was a years-long waiting period on it. Then 911 happened and things changed for everyone. When he graduated and was sworn in, the Randall still had not arrived, so I gave him a "modern" Ka-Bar to mark the occasion. He went off to TBS and I experienced extended deep anxiety as we saw the news every night. I have posted this story here before.

The short story: He deployed to Iraq in 2004. By that time I hda spent over a gtrand on more knivges than anyone could carry. I would have mortgaged everything we owned if that would let me buy a tank. Among thje other knives were the Randall, the Ka-Bar, the Chris Reeve, an Ek dagger, a Camillus Cuda Maxx, two different multi tools and a CRKT M21.

When his unit deployed in 2004, he chose to pack both the Randall #16-1, and the CRK GB. He had no real idea of the cost or cache of the Randall till he was in-country and wore it on his plate carrier. . . .and other officers admired it. In conversations later, he said he felt that the CRK-GB was the tougher knife of the two.

What I was looking at in all this was to get him high quality serious military grade tools. He would not let me up-grade his body armor for instance. The tank? He was in an LAR platoon of armored fighting vehicles.

Looks very nice.

^^^^^^

I had an early version of the Air Force Pilot's Survival Knife in the late 1960s. Used it caping as a B oy Scout . . .very "butch" at the time. It was as rugged a cutting tool as I have ever owned, but the edge was soft compared to other knives. I see them now one e-Bay . . .might find one within the OP's budget there.

Don't most coatings detract somewhat from the slicy aspect unless it's a DLC?

Seems criminal nobody has mentioned the Beckers.....

BK10, 7, or 9 might be perfect for you, and only a tiny bit more in money, prob could find used ones here with your budget.

While durable, the durability comes from the extremely thick and heavy blade stock, may be good for outdoor activity. They are designed by an outdoor man after all.

For thing like military per OP request however, they are close to dead weight. You don't need 5-6mm thick knife to do most of the activities.

4.762 mm
And I agree, I prefer way thinner blades.
Although I also don't want them coated or with a striking pommel either.
I love hard working knives, but without all the hype.

Old Becker knife production were 1/4 inches (a little more than 6mm), I saw a few of them at my local store.

Your knife look pretty nice! Though, that blade stock looks kind of thick. If it is for military, I would go with hidden tang.

Thanks for the feedback Crag the Brewer Crag the Brewer !

Future models will be thinner, and most will be in 3V.
