Military CPM S30V or D2?

Now that I have my CPM S30V Military, I'm wondering out of the two listed, which blade will hold it's edge longer, the S30V or the D2 Military? Nothing will deter my feelings towards my new Military, just wondering which one you guys think or know has outperformed the other. Thanks in advance, J.
 
Sorry to have teased you with my D2 millie pic, I have not had my D2 long enough to make a fair comparision of edge holding vs the S30V, hope others will chime in.
 
I think my D2 stays sharp a little longer than my S30V. Probably won't notice it during normal use..

The FG handle is a big improvement over black though:D

In my experience, the D2 will hold an edge longer than S30V. Neither can hold a candle to S90V, though.;):D
 
Hey Yab!!! When are ya get'n the S125V?? Then you better chime back in!
 
When are they making the S125V? That plays a pretty major part in when I will get one. ;)
 
Last I read It's now only offered in "Cru Clad" stock. Meaning laminated I guess. Other than the one or two melts that got out, there's not a lot available.

If you really want a S125V knife best bet would be to have Phil Wilson make you one. He's not only a leading edge steel guy and developes the heat treats that he, and some others use. He works closely with the factory and was one of the first to get and use S30V, S90V etc.

He also works with 10V steel, itself no lightweight. As a person he's a top shelf guy too.

I've been very impressed with the edge holding of my D2 millitary. I whitled pretty strenously for about 20 minutes with only a minor reduction in sharpness last weekend. The same routine with my endura would have been signifigantly duller. The green color looks very nice as well.
 
You need a D2 and a BG42 to keep your S30V company! I think they are all great knives. I do not have the S30V.
