Military Heroes...

If we're going to talk personal heroes then, like some others here, it would be my grandfather who, like many other grandfathers, signed up during war because it was the right thing to do. He went to war with the Australian Light Horse and survived the killing fields of Europe and the middle east.

Through my father's old friends and service mates, I have met many of America's true Heroes. A few have made lasting impressions on myself and my brothers who also knew/know these guys.
Roger Donlon
Lewis Millett
Roy Benavidez
Frank Miller
James Stockdale
Fred Zabitosky

Inever met the next two men, but their tale left an impression. I remember when these men were recognized.
Randy Shughart
Gary Gordon

Obviously, the majority of my acquaintances were made while growing up with my own personal hero, my Father.
I hold these men, and men of their type, in highest regard. I am not worthy of knowing or having known any of them, and I feel I owe them a debt of gratitude simply as an American.
