Military - how dependable/strong is the liner lock

I believe the compression lock is rated by Spyderco in the very heavy duty range which guarantees a lock strength of 200+ lbs/in lock strength. Does anyone know the lock strength rating of the liner lock on the Military?

However, reliability of a lock is a far more important issue than ultimate strength. We've been refining the model for some 10 years now. Improvement has been constant. The model seems to work well for its intended design use (large folder, light, strong, safe, ergonomic).

We're working on a newer version, but we'll more than likely continue to make and refine the Military in its current format as well.

that said, i am very pleased with the military overall, and i prefer its linerlock to many of my other folders, even lockbacks,
it has a great design, with every aspect well thought, strong enough to stand serious cutting, and very easy to clean without dissasembling .

Featherstone45,

I am also very happy with the Para lock. I have alot of folders and the para has become my number one EDC. I really like the blade and thumb hole. The handle is perfect. I want to get the Military because I want some thing a bit bigger then the Para. When you get your Military let me know how you like the lock.

Boris,

Will do, the wait is driving me nuts, but that always happens lol.
I agree with the compression lock, it is outstanding. The only person that doesnt like it, is my father, he has fat stubby fingers so it is difficult for him to use, He prefers the liner locks.

Man a compression lock on a millie would be sweet:D

Boris,

Just got the millie, locks up excellent, very strong lock, makes that loud CLACK when you open it.:D If you like the para, which you do, you will like the millie. No blade movement at all, its the para's big brother:D

Can anyone comment on the strength and dependability of the liner lock on the Military?

It's supposed to take 150 pounds of force to make the lock fail, so it should hold up to most normal knife tasks or mishaps quite well.

I was "catching" tennis ball with my mil the other day and it is as strong as ever. I love this knife.
TC
can't recommend it but it was neat

featherstone45,
